Perfect day for fun day!

The children had a great time playing the games at fun day!  We had perfect weather to play the games.  The children were very tired after playing at all the stations.  They enjoyed popsicles at the end of the day.  Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and to help with fun day!

Grandparents are grand!

Grandparents Day was a huge success!  It is such a special day for the kindergartners to share a part of their school day with their grandparents.  The children worked very hard learning songs, reciting poems, made a special picture and illustrated a book.  All the children did a wonderful job singing and reciting the poems.  It was fun to watch the children show off the classroom to their grandparents.  Thank you to my photographers and cookie helpers!

PM Class Shows Support for our Classmate

Last Wednesday, the PM class wore shirts to support our classmate with Cystic Fibrosis.  It was an amazing sight to see!  As we were walking in the hall or out on the playground, we got lots of looks and questions from people at school.  There was a benefit that evening to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  It was wonderful to see so many Concord families!  It was a fun day and night for all!  To learn about what you can do to help, visit http://www.lukeshope.com/.

Fairy Tale Fun

The children listened to many fairy tales this week.  These are just a few of the ones we read.  The children learned fairy tales are make-believe stories.  We identified the characters, problem and solution in each story.  The children just loved these stories!

Here Comes the Pets

Last week, we made a list of animals that can be pets.  We talked about how to care for pets.  Each child chose a pet to draw and to write a story about his/her pet.  These are just a few examples of the awesome pets stories the children wrote.  Kindergartners are really becoming great writers!

Reading Groups in Action

Here are just a few groups working hard.  During reading group time, children practice reading familiar books and practice reading a new book.  After reading books, the children work with words or practice writing in a journal.  The children are doing really well reading and writing!  With writing, the children are practicing starting a sentence with a capital letter, putting space between words and ending the sentence with punctuation.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday on Friday.  The children had fun making Cat in the Hat hats, making a list of words that rhyme with "cat", doing a Cat in the Hat dot-to-dot and listening to Dr. Seuss stories!  We love all the rhyming words in Dr. Seuss's books.  The books are so funny!
