Writer's Workshop

Today we practice doing some more writing on our stories.  The children practiced saying a word "slowly" and writing the sounds they hear in the word.  Here are two children who drew pictures and used words in their stories.

Class Mission Statement

Mystery Reader and Color Mixing

Mrs.  Moehlmann read a story called The Pout Pout Fish to the class.  The children loved to guess who the reader was by playing hangman before she came to the classroom.  If you want to be a mystery reader, email me a Friday date.  You will bring a book and read from 1:50-2:05.

Writer's Workshop

We started writer's workshop today.  The children picked a topic they are an expert in and write and/or draw as much as they know about the topic.  Most children will work more on their piece tomorrow and others will start a new piece.  Ask your child about what he/she did in writer's workshop.

Each day we read a letter poem.  We find the letter of the day in the poem and other words we know.  Here is a friend sharing his reading talents.  Ask your child to name a word that begins with H.
