Name Song

We have been clapping the beats (syllables) in each name in our class.  Here are the names we did today.

Flashlight, Flashlight

Today we played the game flashlight, flashlight.  We sing a song and then one child shines the flashlight on a popcorn word.  That child picks another child to read the word.  We keep taking turns until we get all the words.

Here is a quick look at part of calendar time.  Each week we have a calendar leader to lead calendar.

Free Choice Centers

We do free choice almost every day.  The children have to practice habit two "Beginning with the end in mind".  They have to have a plan on which center to go to each day and what they will do at the center.  Here is a look at free choice today.

Journal Writing

Today we read a book called One Little Pumpkin.  Then we wrote together in our journal "My pumpkin is".  The class brainstormed how we could end the sentence.  The children came up with some great ideas.  The children chose an idea to sound spell to finish their sentence.

Witches are at Concord

The class listened to the story the Candy Witch.  Maggie, the candy witch, was good and bad in the story?  The children could decide to make a good or bad witch. 

Greater Than, Less Than

In math today, we compared groups of objects and talked about which group was greater and which group was less.  Here are two friends sharing what they learned in math.
