How-To Books

We are learning how to write how-to books.  Here are a few children who just finished their first how-to book.  I hope you learn something from these books.

Journal Writing

The children wrote in their journals this morning.  There writing is so much easier to read, since the Fall.  The children are doing well putting spaces between their words and writing many sounds when sound spelling.  We are still practicing starting each sentence with a capital letter and ending each idea with a period, question mark or exclamation point.

Writing Celebration

We finished our second unit in writer's workshop.  We celebrated by reading to our buddies.  The buddies wrote a nice note on the back of the books.  We ended our celebration with several toasts.

Rascal Went To Virginia

Rascal brought back lucky pigs from Virginia.  We also learned George Washington along with 7 other presidents were born in Virginia.

Penny

Today we learned what was on the penny and how much it is worth.  Here are the children saying our penny chant.

Valentine's Day Celebration

We mailed valentines, ate treats, graphed candy hearts and played heart bingo.  We had a great time!

Math Game

To finish the chapter, we played a math game where the children practiced counting by fives.  Here is a video of some partners playing.
