Sharing our Teaching Books

We are finishing our teaching books writing unit, so each child shared one book with his/her writing partner.  The books will be on display in our library center.  The children can read and look at their classmates' books.

Using Popcorn Words to Write in our Journal

Today the children wrote a sentence in their journal.  We wrote together "I like to play".  The children used their sound spelling to finish the sentence.  Some children were brave and wrote another sentence in their journal.  They are becoming great writers.

Popcorn Words are Here

Your child brought home the three popcorn words this week.  We will focus on the three words this week.  If your child is working on letters, practice identifying the letters in the words at home.  If your child knows letters, then practice reading the words at home.  If your child can read the words, practice spelling the three words at home.  If your child can spell the words already, practice writing sentences using the words at home.  We cheer the popcorn words when they are introduced at the beginning of the week.  Here is a video of the children cheering the three popcorn words.

Sharing our Writing and Reading with Our Buddies

We shared a book or piece of writing with our buddy.  Our buddy made some comments about our writing.  Then the buddy read a Halloween book.  It was a morning of fun and learning.

Celebrating the Alphabet

Since we finished the alphabet this week, we are having an ABC party.  One fun activity we did today was sorting the cereal Alpha-Bits.  We also found missing letters in the room and listened to some fun alphabet stories.  Don't forget to help your child bring his/her binder to school tomorrow to finish our celebration.
