Morning Message Time

Every day the children help me create a message about the school day.  During message time, I can reach all levels of students.  Some children are saying the letters in the words.  Some children are reading sight words and other children are reading bigger words or spelling words from memory.  Each day four or five children get to share part of the message to the class.  The child might read "Dear Class or Love, Mrs. Madrid".  Other children are reading a sentence or the entire message to the class.  I stress writing concepts as I write the message.  For example, I start a sentence with a capital letter or I end a sentence with a period.  At the end of message time, the class reads the message together.  Check out these great readers in room 19!

Apple Poem

We learned an apple poem.  We found letters and words we know one day.  We also found small words and big words in the poem another day.  We have great readers in room 19!

Yummy Applesauce

The children helped cut the apples to make applesauce.   Most thought it was delicious!   A big thanks to Ben's mom for her help.

Working with buddies

Here are some pictures of the kindergartners with his/her third grade buddies in Mrs. Joy's class.   The children enjoyed making cards for community helpers and getting to know his/her buddy.  We will continue to do fun activities this year with our buddy class.

Five Senses Week

Today we used all of our five senses when popping popcorn.  We could hear it pop.  Then, we could smell the popcorn.  Next, we could see the popcorn.  Then, we could touch the popcorn.  Finally, we could taste the popcorn.  This was the favorite sense we used!  The children worked hard making a book about the popcorn.

We know our color words!

We did so many fun color activities this week.  A few examples are we made a class book, did color mixing and sang some exciting color songs.  The children wanted to sing the "red" song to you.
