Marigolds

We have learned about the stages a seed grows into a plant.  Today we had planted Marigold seeds.

Star Leader Book

The children put "first things first" and did great work on their books pages for our Star Leader.  Here are two children sharing their fantastic work.

Weight

We used a balance scale to compare weight.  Each table had a balance and had a turn weighing bear counters and comparing the weight.  Here are two friends sharing what they did in math.

Happy Birthday, Addie and Acting Out Books!

We enjoyed the doughnuts Addie brought today!

Children could act out parts of stories with their reading partner today in Reading Workshop today.  Acting out stories can help us better understand what is going on in the books we read.

Save the Planet

We discussed ways to take care of the planet.

The Quick Gingerbread Man

Today we read the traditional version of the Gingerbread Man and read the Jan Brett version called The Gingerbread Baby.  Be on the lookout for a new class book.

Journal Writing

What a beautiful weekend we had.  Many children in the class did something outside in the pretty weather!

We enjoyed the story "I Can See Just Fine".  

Star Leader of the Week and Rascal

On Thursday, the star leader brings a book to share.  Today our star leader read the book to the class.  She did a great job reading!

Rascal visited some cool places and brought back some great pictures.  He even went on a very fast train from London to Paris through a channel tunnel.

Our Song

We have started our opinion writing unit in writer' workshop.  We are tying the make the world a better place.

Avid Readers

The children are avidly reading.  When they are feeling something about the story or the character is having a feeling, the children write a feeling word or make a face that matches the feeling.  The children were really thinking about what they were reading today!

Journal Writing

The children are doing really well writing sentences in their journals starting with a capital letter and ending with a period, question mark or exclamation point.

Mystery Reader

Liam's grandma read to us today.  We loved the book!
