Blue Ribbon

Concord is one of seven schools in the state of Missouri to earn a blue ribbon award.  These schools display a high level of student achievement.  It was an exciting day at Concord.  The kids will tell you why.

Letter Party

We had a busy day celebrating the alphabet.  We listened to some fun alphabet books, searched for missing letters in our room and put them in abc order, found letters in our room and wrote them down on a chart, read our alphabet books the children made, watched The Letter Factory during rest time and sorted Alpha-Bits cereal by letter.  Your child can keep his/her alphabet book at home and share it with friends and family.

Happy Birthday, Johnny Appleseed

The children helped turn the spiral slicer on our apples.  The children watched me put the apples slices in the blender with a little water and turned it on.  You can tell by the video who liked the applesauce and who did not.

Apple Math

Today we talked about ways we could sort our class apples.  The children came up with many ideas like sorting by color, shape and size.  Here are how two friends sorted the apples.

The children enjoyed using all of their senses when popping and eating popcorn.  We made a book about the senses we used during the party.  Here are the children reading their books.

This week we are getting ready for our 5 senses popcorn celebration.  We are singing a fun popcorn name song.  Here is one friend being the popcorn as the class sings the song.

Literacy Stations

This week we have been practicing our literacy stations together as a whole group.  Today we did the listening station.  Here are three friends telling us their favorite part of the story the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Tasting

Today we learned about the sense of tasting.  We tasted something sour, salty, bitter and sweet.  The children also enjoyed a sweet cupcake treat at the end of the day.  Thank you, Isabella!

The Five Senses

We played a seeing game.  The white powder all looked alike.   It was hard to figure out what each bag had.

Cool Whip Color Mixing

The children enjoyed mixing primary colors to make new colors.  The children enjoyed eating the purple, orange and green Cool Whip.

Writer's Workshop

The children are working on telling stories by drawing pictures and writing letters or words.
